Our Mumbai flagship store is at the art and culture precinct of Kala Ghoda, situated in the heritage building, Ador House. INTRODUCING THE DESIGN BIBLE

A blog that offers a glimpse into Chanya Kaur’s world of design – her own personal narratives on architecture, art, interiors and lifestyle.

Aptly named ‘The Design Bible’, through it we present curated content on design philosophy, rooted in a deep appreciation for understated luxury and sleek minimalism.

The Design Bible is a place to inspire, inform, reimagine and transform – for musings to come alive in timeless aesthetics. We believe in elegant simplicity, an appreciation for Indian craftsmanship, and design that is modern yet celebrates the classics. It showcases fresh conversations around hues, textures, fabrics and light – how these elements can be played with to make spaces that we cherish and call home. Hygge meets South Asia in this novel lexicon for interior design. The brand ethos that modernity and tradition are not antithetical, carries through The Design Bible.

Our founder draws inspiration from the Japandi school of thought and Belgian architecture, with an emphasis on clean lines, functionality and neutral hues.  She highlights some exciting new trends in design to watch out for: like contemplating how rustic colour palettes and strikingly modern pieces can add vitality to more traditional design. Or perhaps, examining what makes Scandinavian minimalism so timeless. We are fervently passionate about reinventing spaces that are both exquisitely designed and warm at the same time. So, the blog also features musings on evoking joy through styling, whilst still making for serene, functional spaces.

ABOUT CHANYA KAUR

Chanya Kaur, the founder of The Pure Concept Home, has always loved interior design and styling. The last fourteen years have given her opportunity to evolve creatively – having worked as a stylist for several exhibitions, photoshoots and interior spaces- the journey has been wildly fulfilling. She always harnessed a desire to turn her passion into a career, to help people add dynamism, character and their own personal flair to beautifully crafted spaces. Supporting the family business in textiles and managing ‘The Pure Concept’ with her husband and partner Dalbir Singh, has paved the way for Chanya to grow into her calling as an interior design consultant.

Working with textiles has been a great learning experience for her, and cemented her journey to owning her own store. She believes that soft furnishings can either make or break the decor of the space; the vital role of fabrics in design has only became more apparent to her with time. For her fabrics play a key role in deciding the mood and aesthetics of a space and yet she feels that they are often neglected in Indian design. Through her latest venture Chanya wants to change that mindset.

The Designer’s Table at The Pure Concept Home store is where she helps clients design their spaces from scratch. Chanya and the team of designers work in tandem with architects, interior designers and consumers, to provide a soft furnishing consultancy. Here is where Chanya’s eclectic approach to design, her creative expertise and passion for helping people truly shines. Warmth, originality and keen attention to detail of spaces is what draws her attention. From table settings at dinners, to boutique hotel rooms and lobbies, her mind is always whirling with ideas on how to reinvent and innovate.
